Spring in Maine
In like a lion, out like a lamb. What begins the season as grays and browns, seemingly transforms to capture every color under the rainbow in a matter of weeks; comparable to Dorothy waking up in technicolor in the Wizard of Oz.
By the first of Spring, the state's earth begins to loosen and those short winter days are in the long past. Mainers look for any opportunity to spend time in the warm sunshine, rushing at every opportunity to prepare and plant seeds for the fun, hopeful season ahead.
May brings vibrant green leaves and a familiar warm air- one that was swept away by the autumn frost. There is no greater anticipation than that of a Mainer’s hope for Spring. The reward that comes from every melting snow pile, and every purple crocus emergence is one that is celebrated - this is where Mainers earn their badge of grit. The reward is always worth it. No matter the length or fury of winter, Spring always comes. A beautiful sentiment for anyone; one cherished by all.
