Great Island (also known as Sebascodegan Island) is the most central part of Harpswell; home to the town office and local elementary school. Harpswell Community School is one of 6 elementary schools that make up the MSAD 75 school district, comprising 4 local towns; Harpswell, Topsham, Bowdoin & Bowdoinham. Both the Junior High & High Schools are located in Topsham; about a 20 minute drive from Harpswell center! Mt. Ararat High School has an enrollment of approximately 750 students in grades 9 -12. Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Mt. Ararat serves the second largest district geographically in the State of Maine.
